The Process
A primary goal of the Downtown Next plan is to focus on developing a unifying vision based on the wishes and requests of the Downtown community. A detailed, creative, process is in order to solicit stakeholder and community input and participation. To create an actionable Downtown Next plan public engagement in the planning process and stakeholder input is key. The plan will be developed from information gathered through:

On-line Survey
The Downtown Next survey is a critical element in the planning process. It provides an opportunity for citizens across the St. Louis Metropolitan region to express their thoughts about Downtown and its vision for the future. The survey, a multiple choice and short-answer questionnaire, was designed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Downtown.
Focus Groups
Focus group discussions will be facilitated by a private consultant to allow candid feedback. The focus groups will be selected on a basis that they will provide a better understanding of the unique obstacles and opportunities facing Downtown.
Briefing and Listening Roundtables
Along with stakeholder interviews, briefings will be conducted that are designed to build upon the knowledge gained from the survey and stakeholder interviews. A presentation is designed for the briefing, as well as an interactive dialogue for soliciting feedback.
Stakeholders
Approximately, twenty-five one-on-one regional stakeholder interviews will be conducted. The interviews allow for candid conversations regarding the issues and opportunities facing Downtown St. Louis.
